    10\u00a0<\/sup>But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.<\/span> 11\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews were looking for him at the feast, and saying, \u201cWhere is he?\u201d<\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, \u201cHe is a good man,\u201d others said, \u201cNo, he is leading the people astray.\u201d<\/span> 13\u00a0<\/sup>Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.<\/span><\/p>

    14\u00a0<\/sup>About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching.<\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews therefore marveled, saying, \u201cHow is it that this man has learning,d]”>[d<\/a>]<\/sup> when he has never studied?\u201d<\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>So Jesus answered them, \u201cMy teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.<\/span><\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>If anyone’s will is to do God’se]”>[e<\/a>]<\/sup> will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.<\/span><\/span> 18\u00a0<\/sup>The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.<\/span><\/span> 19\u00a0<\/sup>Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?\u201d<\/span><\/span> 20\u00a0<\/sup>The crowd answered, \u201cYou have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?\u201d<\/span> 21\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cI did one work, and you all marvel at it.<\/span><\/span> 22\u00a0<\/sup>Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.<\/span><\/span> 23\u00a0<\/sup>If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well?<\/span><\/span> 24\u00a0<\/sup>Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    Can This Be the Christ?<\/span><\/h3>

    25\u00a0<\/sup>Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, \u201cIs not this the man whom they seek to kill?<\/span> 26\u00a0<\/sup>And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?<\/span> 27\u00a0<\/sup>But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from.\u201d<\/span> 28\u00a0<\/sup>So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, \u201cYou know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know.<\/span><\/span> 29\u00a0<\/sup>I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.\u201d<\/span><\/span> 30\u00a0<\/sup>So they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.<\/span> 31\u00a0<\/sup>Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, \u201cWhen the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    Officers Sent to Arrest Jesus<\/span><\/h3>

    32\u00a0<\/sup>The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.<\/span> 33\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus then said, \u201cI will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.<\/span><\/span> 34\u00a0<\/sup>You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.\u201d<\/span><\/span> 35\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews said to one another, \u201cWhere does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?<\/span> 36\u00a0<\/sup>What does he mean by saying, \u2018You will seek me and you will not find me,\u2019<\/span> and, \u2018Where I am you cannot come\u2019<\/span>?\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    Rivers of Living Water<\/span><\/h3>

    37\u00a0<\/sup>On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, \u201cIf anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.<\/span><\/span> 38\u00a0<\/sup>Whoever believes in me, asf]”>[f<\/a>]<\/sup> the Scripture has said, \u2018Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span> 39\u00a0<\/sup>Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.<\/span><\/p>

    Division Among the People<\/span><\/h3>

    40\u00a0<\/sup>When they heard these words, some of the people said, \u201cThis really is the Prophet.\u201d<\/span> 41\u00a0<\/sup>Others said, \u201cThis is the Christ.\u201d But some said, \u201cIs the Christ to come from Galilee?<\/span> 42\u00a0<\/sup>Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?\u201d<\/span> 43\u00a0<\/sup>So there was a division among the people over him.<\/span> 44\u00a0<\/sup>Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.<\/span><\/p>

    45\u00a0<\/sup>The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, \u201cWhy did you not bring him?\u201d<\/span> 46\u00a0<\/sup>The officers answered, \u201cNo one ever spoke like this man!\u201d<\/span> 47\u00a0<\/sup>The Pharisees answered them, \u201cHave you also been deceived?<\/span> 48\u00a0<\/sup>Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?<\/span> 49\u00a0<\/sup>But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.\u201d<\/span> 50\u00a0<\/sup>Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them,<\/span> 51\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cDoes our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?\u201d<\/span> 52\u00a0<\/sup>They replied, \u201cAre you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
