    \u00a0<\/strong>2\u00a0<\/span>On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus\u2019 mother was there,<\/span> 2\u00a0<\/sup>and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.<\/span> 3\u00a0<\/sup>When the wine was gone, Jesus\u2019 mother said to him, \u201cThey have no more wine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    4\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWoman,[a<\/a>]<\/sup> why do you involve me?\u201d<\/span> Jesus replied. \u201cMy hour has not yet come.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    5\u00a0<\/sup>His mother said to the servants, \u201cDo whatever he tells you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    6\u00a0<\/sup>Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><\/p>

    7\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to the servants, \u201cFill the jars with water\u201d<\/span>; so they filled them to the brim.<\/span><\/p>

    8\u00a0<\/sup>Then he told them, \u201cNow draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    They did so,<\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside<\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>and said, \u201cEveryone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    11\u00a0<\/sup>What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.<\/span><\/p>

    12\u00a0<\/sup>After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.<\/span><\/p>

    Jesus Clears the Temple Courts<\/span><\/h3>

    13\u00a0<\/sup>When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.<\/span> 14\u00a0<\/sup>In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.<\/span> 15\u00a0<\/sup>So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.<\/span> 16\u00a0<\/sup>To those who sold doves he said, \u201cGet these out of here! Stop turning my Father\u2019s house into a market!\u201d<\/span><\/span> 17\u00a0<\/sup>His disciples remembered that it is written: \u201cZeal for your house will consume me.\u201d[c<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><\/p>

    18\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews then responded to him, \u201cWhat sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    19\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cDestroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    20\u00a0<\/sup>They replied, \u201cIt has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?\u201d<\/span> 21\u00a0<\/sup>But the temple he had spoken of was his body.<\/span> 22\u00a0<\/sup>After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.<\/span><\/p>
